Love this oval shape! It really shows that it was a hand struck coin. The Jerusalem cross indicated support of church and state by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. This "Piece of Eight" was recovered from the Princess Louisa which sank in the Cape Verde Islands in 1743.
